    Comments:
Started a little later than normal, but got there just between [info]deankat starting and [info]teambaraka and Co. starting. Air was colder than the water again, resulting in lots of neat mist.

Did my first 4 laps just steady, with a brief pickup to try to see how long I could draft off a superfast guy who blew by me. Right before I finished my 4th, A,J&J were heading out, so when I turned around, I tried to catch them, in vain. Found them at the dam and joined them for their next length, which I thought should be my last. Realized at the other end I still had lots of time left to get to an hour, so led for a cooldown length, then drafted for the return length.

    Comments:
Made the mistake of doing my warmup with [info]riverbrady, who we hadn't seen since CdA, and who runs much faster than I do. So instead of a warmup, it was probably roughly my marathon goal pace from marathon season. I was certainly warm by the time we were done, though!

And then.. mile repeats. Oof. From the gate, gradual uphill to the other gate, steeper uphill for a second, then a long, long downhill, another short, steep uphill, then a turn and back to the gate. So.. not flat. And we were supposed to do it not at our 5k pace, but at a pace that we'd LIKE to run a 5k at. Having gotten faster recently, it was a little disappointing that he sent us off in waves.. the sub-6 people.. the 6-7 minute people.. and The Rest. Dammit! I can't ever be not The Rest. :)

Followed Kelly, Jennifer and Cheryl out. Cheryl took off like a madwoman, and Jennifer pulled ahead, but I managed to stick behind Kelly. I just tried to be uncomfortable at all times, and I surely was. At the end of each mile, I was wheezing and panting and very grumpy. And I didn't manage to maintain my pace from the first mile for the next two, but overall, I'm.. pretty damn ecstatic with my times. Fastest three miles I've ever done.

    I don't think I ever thought I'd run a sub-8 even for a single mile.

Ran my c/d with Scott, who told me he ran one of his miles sub-7. Crazy.
